SAN FRANCISCO - Text-sharing site Scribd
will eliminate all pornographic content from the site starting Wednesday, the company announced last week.
"Over the next month, we will be updating Scribd's terms of service to prohibit pornographic documents and images," Jason Bentley wrote on the company's blog. "It's become clear that adult content is limiting Scribd's usefulness to educators, parents, students and publishers, exactly the types of users that benefit the most from our site and services."
Bentley wrote in the May 14 blog entry that users with adult content on Scribd will have until Wednesday to download it to their computers before it is removed.
Scribd has been touted as a blogging tool and document repository.
Docstoc and edocr
are among the other adult-content-free sites in the space.
