Ohioans Led Visits to Porn Sites in 2007

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Residents of the Buckeye State visited adult websites more often than their counterparts in the other 49 states in 2007.

But Ohio has lost its No. 1 ranking since then; data collected by Global Research at Hitwise shows Wyoming is leading the charge these days.

Hitwise ranks states by the most pornography site visits per capita.

According to data from the past four weeks, Ohio is ranked eighth on the list, but residents are still 18 percent more like to visit an adult site than other Americans.

"Right now, Ohio accounts for about 4.9 percent of all adult site visits," Bill Tancer, general manager of Hitwise, said. "Typically, visits to porn sites tend to correlate negatively with the economy. Adult content websites typically increase in popularity during bleak economic times."
