Pirate Bay Pirated by New Streaming Video Site

Streaming site logo appears to be exactly the same as its competitor.

Online reports indicate BitTorrent site, The Pirate Bay, has been robbed of its characteristic pirate ship logo by a competing streaming video website, ThePirateCity.org.

Currently The Pirate City website is down due to "high volume," but promises to return in a couple of days with "a better site." Google's snapshot of the page as it appeared on Sept. 13 demonstrates a site featuring the Pirate Bay's branded logo as well as a page that's drastically different from any of Pirate Bay's previous endeavors.

TechCrunch ran a post Monday based on information from a tipster in which it stated, "[S]treaming is right around the corner." The Pirate Bay later modified the post saying The Pirate City is "not one of the Pirate Bay's properties."

According to NewTeeVee.com writer Janko Roettgers, not only is the site hosted on a server in the UK, but it's registered anonymously through a Russian domain registrar. Anyone familiar with The Pirate Bay knows the admins own their own hosting company and are extremely forthcoming about their projects, which incidentally are registered under the real names of their administrators.

The Pirate Bay has also dabbled in the prospects of streaming video with a site titled The Video Bay.
