‘American Cannibal’ Premieres Tonight

Friday night, American Cannibal will premiere at the Fine Arts Theater in Los Angeles. The evening will be sponsored by AVN, WantedList, PussyCash, and Clips4Sale.

Kevin Blatt, coming off a busy press tour that included interviews with Entertainment Tonight, ShowBiz Tonight, HDNet, the New York Times, the New York Post, and TeleMundo, is "excited about all of the positive press and rave reviews" of his new film. The New York Post called the film "deliciously bizarre," while Variety dubbed the film a "trainwreck fascination."

Blatt, a consultant and public relations specialist for the adult industry, co-produced and starred in the documentary, which is set for a nationwide release in select cities, beginning this Friday.

Striving to break new ground, the filmmakers began American Cannibal in 2004 as a bold social experiment with reality. They "set in motion real events that allowed them unlimited access to the results, pushing their cameras deep into the glitter-dome of reality-TV production to emerge with an equally bold exposé."

"The general concept of this film, in a nutshell, is one that follows two TV show producers, Gil and Dave, as they go on their quest to produce a reality show. Along the way, these two writers pitch all of the major networks crazy story ideas and, in the end, are turned down—that is, until they meet me, the crazy porn guy," said Blatt. "I eventually help produce the TV show that this reality documentary is all about, called American Cannibal. We want to find out how far people will go for reality TV." The sadistic, shameless reality show they churn out is documented from start to finish: from the throwaway pitch to manic auditions through train-wreck production.

Alongside the drama, the filmmakers interview prominent producers, psychologists, network execs, celebrities, and D-listers who offer candid insight and scathing judgments on our society.

American Cannibal is a documentary as "wild as the story behind it: a shocking, hilarious, bona fide portrait of our celebrity-driven culture and the appalling lengths one will go to, for entertainment, according to its producers," the filmmakers said.

Blatt also is working on a new television show called Virgin Territory, in which he will lock seven virgins in a house with a combination of several porn stars/models. In the end, "one lucky virgin will be de-flowered on national television." Blatt expects to solidify a deal for the show with a cable network within the next week.

Attendees during Fridays' premiere can expect free admission to the film, free popcorn, and free parking behind the Larry Flynt building (one block from the theater).
