Evil Angel, Kaytel Reach Settlement
Two-year piracy battle resolved amicably

VAN NUYS, Calif. — Evil Angel owner John Stagliano released a statement today announcing that his company's drawn out battle with Canadian-based Kaytel Video over piracy issues has been resolved.
All details of the settlement are closed, Evil's Karen Stagliano told AVN. She did, however, comment, "Evil Angel will continue to protect our copyrights and Intellectual Property rights."
Karen Stagliano was unaware of whether Jules Jordan, who jointly pursued Kaytel for piracy damages, has reached any similar settlement with the company. Jordan could not be reached for comment by post time.
John Stagliano's statement follows:
"I am pleased to announce that Kaytel Video and Evil Angel have reached a settlement agreement, which effectively ends all pending litigations or potential appeals in the U.S. and Canada.
In the end, it became only a matter of sitting down face to face with [Kaytel owner] Mr. [Alain] Elmaleh, which we did back in mid-December, with no mediators or attorneys.
During our meeting, which lasted close to four hours, we discussed everything, from the reasons and dynamics that brought us to this long and costly two-year legal battle, to the ramifications of a potentially long and costly appeal process from both sides.
At the end of our meeting that same day, we both agreed that a fair settlement to definitely resolve both the U.S. and Canadian actions was a much better alternative than continuing this expensive process.
It's been now two months since our settlement agreement was fine-tuned and made official by our respective attorneys. Mr. Elmaleh has been fair in this process and is in complete compliance with the terms of the agreement.
I wish him and his company good luck in the future. And I consider him to be a fair person with whom to do business.
