Mike South's new line for Hollywood Video, Southern Magnolias, is pretty much the Southern porn director's time-proven standard – girls you've never seen before and will probably never see again.

"It's a personal preference of my own so I think that it probably follows that it works for others as well. The bottom line is there is something very different about a girl who is doing it because she wants to and doing it because she wants a paycheck," South told AVN.com. "There's always a sense of enthusiasm, a sense of excitement on her part. That comes across well on camera."
South readily admits that his geographical isolation from Porn Valley helps him cast women that are more interested in an interesting experience than a career – but also credits friends such as Tim Case and Felicia Fox for referring women to him. In fact, four of the women on Southern Magnolias #2, are from the Dayton, Ohio, area that Case and Fox lived in before making the move to Porn Valley.
"Most of them are doing it once or twice to have a good time and make a few bucks, and see themselves on TV without having to do anything degrading like going on the Jerry Springer show," said South.
South notes that the women he casts often tell him that they are doing the video because "it gives themselves a chance to do things that they are not comfortable doing with a boyfriend or a significant other."
In Southern Magnolias #2, the newbies South cast include Cori Love, Fiona, Kiana, Beth, Eve and Celena Roxx, who also occasionally performs in fetish videos.
"The scene with Celena Roxx was unbelievable. We turned out to be very close friends after that. We had very good chemistry. You can actually tell that she's in ecstasy," said South, who provided the wood for Roxx's scene and two others himself.
Southern Magnolias #2 was released last week in both VHS and DVD formats. South hopes to turn in four to six installments of the series this year, with plans on ramping up the release schedule next year.
