Critical Rating: AAA 1/2

Stephanie Swift is a former stripper now working as a bartender somewhere in Hollywood. She's got a loser musician boyfriend who takes her money and treats her rather poorly. Where do these screenplay ideas come from?

Combining evocative visual elements and a raw, sometimes edgy sense of the erotic, director Red Ezra proffers one stylish piece of smut here, and is to be roundly commended. In addition, Swift serves up an especially sympathetic rendition here of a woman whose wilted sense of self has led her down a dead-end path or two, but who is able to conjure one last surge of survivor impulse when it counts. Evan Stone is similarly formidable here as her slimeball beau, and they play off of each other well, both in and out of the sack.
