Critical Rating: AAA 1/2

Mix the television comedy Sports Night with the movie Broadcast News, add the standard hardcore action, and shake. That's the carnal cocktail recipe for News Action, which benefits from a tight, humorous script that the ensemble cast manages to pull off without looking foolish. If the sex were half as good, the feature would've landed an Editor's Choice.

Two encounters ought to raise some mahogany in the audience. The first, a romantic candlelit fling with hapless newscaster Tyce Bune and Julie Rage, starkly contrasts a nastier tryst in near-darkness with station owner Herschel Savage and Nikki Sinn. As it stands, the final product isn't flesh-searing material, but it's still pretty serviceable.
