In many ways, De Sade is nearly perfect adult entertainment, and far closer in spirit to the father of sadism than a recent American video.  The costumes and settings (filmed in Europe) are extraordinarily lush; the cast is uniformly attractive and the sex is virtually non-stop.  The cornucopia of copulation (mostly performed by Rocco) is loaded with toe sucking, athletic standing fucks, gooey facials, and a plethora of anal antics that almost redefine the act itself.

They even manage to squeeze a few (laughably dubbed) lines of dialogue which merely serve to set up the next nuclear blast of sexual energy.  Essentially, it's the classiest way to whack off since the last Andrew Blake opus.

However, if viewers don't like Blake they won't cotton to De Sade either.  The film is gorgeous but the camerawork never goes for that hand-held, "you are there" look, which modern audiences crave.  Nasty but classy; recommended for adventurous couples.  (Distributor note: some scenes appear to have been edited from a rougher European version.  There is no on screen violence but some actresses are smeared in blood and tied to a rack.  Check local ordinances before shipping.)
