Was it really only 25 years ago that the narrative porn film debuted in adult movie theaters across the country? Something Weird Video has done something special: it has released on videotape Mona, the Virgin Nymph, a classic if for no other reason than it was the first of its kind.
Mona is a hybrid of two genres: the hardcore 8 mm loop and the softcore sexploitation film that is Something Weird’s bread and butter. While hardcore sex films debuted in 1969, these films were loop carriers disguised as documentaries. By telling a story, Mona broke the rules.
Mona (Fifi Watson), a moderately buxom redhead, and her boyfriend are having a picnic in the park. While she initially does not want to be touched intimately by him until after they are married, they do go down on each other.
Mona then approaches a man on the street and goes down on him until he cums; however there is no cum shot in this or in any other scene in the movie. She then meets blonde hooker Susan Stewart, who takes Mona to her apartment for wine and sex. Susan slowly massages her back, peels off her clothing, and makes love to her in what turns out to be the longest scene of the film (and one worthy of nomination in any year).
Later, her fiancée (busy little fella) ties Mona to a bed spreadeagled where she is then “visited” by all the people with whom she had oral sex. They reciprocate the oral loving, while honoring her request to remain a virgin.Howard Ziehm’s great camera work (fantastic genital close-ups) is what made Mona possible. The only glitch of note is the total absence of screen credits, which can only be found in another classic, Jim Holliday’s Only the Best. A nice novelty tape to offer your customers.
