When the Dark Bros. Come to mind, this is the first sex film that pops up. It's their classic, and for sheer horny action in bizarre settings, this is difficult to top. Although their other films and videos got slicker, and the comedy more refined (at least for the Dark Bros.), New Wave Hookers has an erotic quality that is difficult to describe; it's that intriguing, horny and compelling. A couple of slum dwellers (Jack Baker and Jamie Gillis) dream up a crazy out-call service in which the girls turn tricks to new wave music. The chicks ain't interested in the dough; so the pimps rake that in. All the girls want is to get their pussies drilled in rhythm to funky, new wave music. It's how the story unravels that's intriguing, with Gillis thinking he's really Japanese, Steve Powers as the pet dog and Baker's outrageous pimp. Every sex scene and every girl is scorching hot. Ginger Lynn does a DP that sets new standards for over-the-top, triplet fucking. Unfortunately, Traci Lords' devil scene has been cut, but the rest of the show is intact, including a merry-go-round orgy that has some of the nastiest sex imaginable.
New Wave Hookers, the latest offering from those notorious Dark Brothers (Let Me Tell Ya 'Bout White Chicks), leads you to believe that this is the most bizarre adult film in history. Despite some fine, funny performances from Jack Baker, Steve Powers and Kristara Barrington, Hookers succeeds because the sex is pure raunch. However, the story is typical at best and Jamie Gillis' pointless Chinese accent wear thin immediately and becomes an annoyance. He's not even playing someone Chinese.
Baker and Gillis run their own kinky bordello where they hire women and program them to copulate to new wave music. There are humorous moments with them and their "dog," played by Steve Powers. Most of the sex scenes are shot in pseudo-exotic, intentionally tacky locales. But the production values are first-rate.
Traci Lords and Ginger Lynn each perform one separate raunch scene, with Ginger taking on two nerdy college students at the same time for some double penetration. Kimberly Carson and Brooke Fields satisfy an Arab while Desiree Lane has meetings with Jamie Gillis, a golden dildo and three men at once. These are among the sexual highs.
While the pulsating sex scenes highlight New Wave Hookers, a surprisingly original new wave score is provided by The Plugz. The many worthwhile elements make this a film worth watching.
