A streetwalker sashays into an urban grindhouse as the movie begins: The hardboiled tale of a sax player (Dick James) & his ripe young Vietnamese squeeze (Tia Tanaka) chasing fame. When a ruthless club owner turns her out, the anguished jazzman seeks vengeance. What the audience doesn't know is the on-screen sex & mayhem is about to spill into the darkened theater!
Director Clark abandons the subjective camera and stylized look of previous Asia Noirs for an impressive, ingeniously constructed story film, objectively shot. The film within a film element is expertly done.
Asia goes to a matinee at a semi-deserted L.A. grind house. On screen is A Lust Supreme, a tragic love story starring Tia Tanaka, with Guy Di Silva as a mobster running Asian whores. Asia has her own lust encounter in the theater with two black dudes. Good sex throughout, with lots of extra-long blowjobs.
Pre-noms: Best Ethnic Release – Asian.
