Steal Breeze is funny, but it’s not a comedy. It’s exciting, but the pace is leisurely. It’s a great erotic feature, but it’s shot-on-video. What gives?
Raven Touchstone and Henri Pachard have concocted one of the most bizarre screenplays this side of Twin Peaks. From the confines of a jail cell, a female cat burglar (Jeanna Fine) has flashbacks of recent memories that unfold to tell a tale of jealousy, blackmail…and crossdressing. It’s not a pretty picture. Uncle Ozzie (Randy Spears) and Corky (Jerry Butler) are kiddie show hosts fighting a ratings war. Corky is falling on the charts, so he conspires with his pimp/criminal mastermind pal, Joey Silvera, to steal Ozzie’s diary. The kidvid king is videotaped in bed with a hooker for purposes of blackmail. Apparently Ozzie’s a closet transvestite, which may just diminish his popularity if made public.
To its credit, Steal Breeze is played straight, though it’s rife with comic scenes, as exemplified when Corky has sex in full clown regalia, simultaneously watching himself on TV. Also funny (and scary at the same time) are the sequences with Uncle Ozzie in drag. Randy Spears never stoops to stereotypical effeminate behavior, so it’s disquieting to watch this muscular stud put it to Patricia Kennedy and the sultry Jeanna Fine in two separate encounters.
Just how all this ties into Fine’s character is a bit complex to detail, but it must be said that she gives one of the most convincing performances to be seen in adult features this year. Though the majority of her screen time is a speaking role, her two sexual sequences (the other being with Patricia Kennedy) contain enough animal sensuality to linger in one’s mind long after the vid is over. With excellent direction, story and technical specs, this is a must have for anyone pushing quality porn.
