Send up a flag, break out the balloons, shoot off fireworks! Torrid Without A Cause, a spectacular video feature, gives writer/producer/director Paul Thomas al the credit. It's a truly erotic and funny piece of work.
Randy West is Sinbad, a thinly-disguised parallel to Elvis Presley. The "Sultan" of rock 'n roll has given up his career, and no plays out the role of a homeless hobo, in order to fulfill his childhood dream of discovering America. Tori Welles plays his biggest fan. He avidly scans the tabloids for articles about his "death" and reports of "Sinbad sightings." Tori's girlfriends (West and Knights) think she's obsessed - which is true - but one day she actually collides with Sinbad on the street, and next thing you know, the ex-rocker is residing with Tori and her husband Morty (Tom Byron). Much to Morty's chagrin, Sinbad's freeloading ways irritate him and drive a wedge between Tori and himself. Sooner or later she's got to make a choice, but not before Tori and her girlfriends sample a piece of the "Sultan" for memory's sake.
Torrid Without A Cause is really a superb situation comedy with sex, rather than the reverse, and it makes all the difference! Sexually, it sizzles with one great encounter after another. The plot actually moves characters from one scene to the next, and everyone has a distinct personality. The cast is uniformly terrific. West plays Sinbad to the hilt, maximizing his lowkey, homeboy nature as the others react to him. Welles is fine as a ditz, and Byron strikes gold as the beleaguered spouse. And April West has to be the cutest, least pretentious and most arousing little thang in adult video.
