In the grand tradition of "Frankenstein," The Ultimate Lover shows us that problems "arise" when you fool with Mother Nature. In this case, two female doctors in search of a real man to fulfill their needs, build the ultimate love machine, only to get more than they bargained for in the process.
While the old Frankenstein monster never got his rocks off like this, The Ultimate Lover fails to follow through on a good story line with some interesting possibilities. Instead, it reverts back to a familiar theme: namely, build a bride for the monster, complete with an electric hairdo and all,
The best thing about The Ultimate Lover is that the production qualities are top notch. The sex, however, is just like the plot — something we've all seen a hundred times before. Even worse, the film is too long considering the non-daring and repetitive erotic scenes. As such, a promising beginning gives way to standard stuff. The film ends by telling us a sequel is on the way. Hopefully, the sex will be spiced up a bit more in Round II, or this series' plug may be pulled before it really gets rolling.
