Watching the Royal Couple on television, in all their pompous splendor, I've always wondered what Di would look like with her skirt hiked around her ears. I mean after all, they have children, so they must "do it." And that's what attracted me to Chuck and Di In Heat. The idea of an under-the-sheets look at how the prince waves his regal scepter at her Highness was both funny and exciting.
And it works... but only for a little while. The first sex scene between Di (Sharon Mitchell) and Chuck (Kevin James) is erotic because you think they are actually playing Charles and Diana. But when we learn that they are simply two principles in a plot to seduce the world through libido-releasing bubble gum, well... the magic sorta disappears and this Scotty Fox effort becomes just another video feature.
But it's a well-made feature. The production qualities are good, and Fox gets energetic performances from his cast in both sex and acting. Mitchell and James are hot working together and with newcomer Rene Hunter in the picture's finale. And the rest of the players attack their roles (and partners) with enthusiasm.
The storyline about the gum is corny, but the sex and the energy almost make up for what's lacking in plot. I wish the "Royal Couple" theme could have held up through the feature, but as it stands Chuck and Di In Heat is still worth the price of a rental.
