From a production angle, this has got to be one of the more schizophrenic shot-on-videos of late. On the one hand, there are some interesting video and even audio special effects, including some very effective slow-motion photography, as well as pretty good camera work overall. On the other hand, the tape suffers from generally poor lighting and sound, and even worse editing, with far too many of those distracting jump cuts hat completely destroy the flow of a sex scene. The opening credits are also notable, with witty comic-strip blurbs that tie in with the story.
But the story doesn't maintain the humor. Eric Edwards is featured as a cartoonist for an adult publication that runs a regular strip. Under deadline pressures from his editor, whom he speaks to only in repetitive, boring phone conversations, he sketches out a variety of hardcore plot developments in his comic strip that are enacted for us in the flesh. For reasons that I can't unearth, all the scenes involve a marriage motif, with wedding-night sex as the big payoff, thus the Honeymoon Harlots tie-in.
Amber Lynn, who's presented as the star, appears in only two scenes: a hot, but too-short lesbian encounter with Sharon Mitchell, and a pretty good session with Edwards, where Amber materializes as the boiling incarnation of the cartoonist's science fiction/fantasy heroine come to blood-pumping life. I'm afraid that nothing else in the tape approaches the heat level of Amber's appearance, so I wouldn't take more than a few vows over this one.
