Ready for some old-fashioned raunch? Videobone, yet another entry into the all-too-rarely wonderful world of shot-on-video, fulfills your sleazy desires like few others. It draws you into the world inside the video screen, deeper and deeper and deeper, until . . . you fall in! Such is the fate of Mike Horner, who's mesmerized by the blonde siren on his video screen beckoning him to watch, intoning over and over the message that he should be the one taking advantage of all the sweet young things going through their sexual paces. Such is the setup.
Unfortunately, the sex does not live up to the erotic potential demonstrated in the first scene between Horner and Debra Areola. Mike's wearing a Mike Horner mask, a nice touch adding to the unsettling overtones provided by story setup and music. The two have an impassioned, erotic, somewhat wild (he destroys her pantyhose) encounter, but from there on down, the sex sequences are overlong and seem forced.
The videography does nothing to enhance the sexual proceedings, but by focusing on various body parts (nipples, belly-buttons, etc.) it actually detracts from what might have been some more appealing scenes (Homer's and Gayle Sterling's, for example). But the sex is steamy, slightly squalid, and very varied (anal, body painting, clothes ripping, three-ways, etc.), so if you do like things slightly seedy and raunchy, you might enjoy Videobone.
One major problem . . . lack of body make-up! I like realistic XXX's, but black-and-blue marks, and pimples on men's behinds are just a bit much. Come on, that's why they make the stuff! The warehouse setting, while cheap-looking, may actually add to the attraction of this feature's general seediness. Who knows? Production quality and influx of funds may have detracted from this raunchy shot-on-video, but it does manage to hold some attraction and tries to achieve something different in terms of setup and style.
