Documentaries about porn tend to range from mediocre to awful, but The Girl Next Door is a happy exception - even if its portrait of the trials and tribulations of major porn star Stacy Valentine includes the warts.

The feature traces Stacy from the beginning of her career - a Hustler "Girl Next Door" model - nearly to its end, with Stacy performing in Devil in Miss Jones 6 (1999); she made few features after that.

While not strictly edited chronologically, viewers will see Stacy falling in love with fellow actor Julian and later breaking up; her anger at not winning a trophy at the 1998 AVN Awards; her joy at being named Best American Starlet at the Hot D'Or awards, her interactions with family and much more.
