As an authentic example of the hidden camera genre, Busted is a total bust. Each segment begins with a black and white segment — replete with timecode — purportedly shot from a remote camcorder “on the job,” i.e. LAPD/babysitter monitors, etc. Within minutes the P.O.V. switches to standard porn-videographer mode... rendering the illusion useless. We might even add insulting, 'cause only a neophyte pud-puller wouldn't recognize the porn stars in the B&W footage to begin with! Taken, instead, as the usual WTW stuff we rate the material lukewarm. A Reese/Stone seg plus the Deville/Christian encounter spills the hottest beans up front. It's all downhill from there. All-natural babes and condomless action remains Kick-Ass's most potent challenge to the competition, not cynical “cleverness.”
