The lusciously luscious Vanilla DeVille takes a few minutes from her busy schedule to give me the lowdown on her website, this whole blog thing everyone keeps talking about, and being named Miss Nude Internet.
Tripp Daniels: How long has Vanilladeville.com been on the Net?
Vanilla DeVille: Well, it seems like I've been online forever—but in a good way, of course. I launched my original webcam site back in 1999, VanillaCam.com. I had a few pictures and videos, but the site was mainly focused around my live webcam shows. I didn't have streaming video back then. Thirty-second-refreshing jpeg cam images for members, 180 seconds for the free cam, and a few thousand cam captures from previous shows. I guess it was more of a naughty hobby at first.
I would do five or six cam shows a week, all while I continued working on my corporate career. After several months of working on both my site and my "real" job, I decided that something had to go. Since I was having more fun working on my site, as well as making more money, it was a no-brainer for me. I said good-bye Corporate America, hello to full-time porn and have never looked back.
As I progressed to streaming media for live shows, I started expanding my members' area, adding more photo sets and personal videos. Also, since I no longer had to worry about co-workers finding out about my double life, I was able to start doing professional photo shoots, where I used my last name DeVille. With all of the site changes, as well as the modeling shoots, it made sense to move away from a "cam" domain and use my name instead.
So,in 2002, I migrated my site to VanillaDeVille.com. VanillaCam.com will still get you there, of course, but I focus on the VanillaDeVille.com domain and branding.
You've done a lot of modeling work as well as appearing all over the Web and other projects. Are there still other professional goals you have for yourself?
I have had a lot of goals in my life, and I am very proud to have achieved many of those goals. However, there is still a lot I would like to do, especially in my career. Of course, my current main focus is continuing to grow and improve my affiliate program, PornMonkey Cash (Pornmonkeycash.com). Besides improving support for marketing my site, PMC will be adding new sites to the program very shortly, and I'm very excited to launch them for my affiliates. I'm working on releasing my own line of exclusive DVDs as well as continuing to update my mobile site for OhMobile. For the future, I would also like to expand my professional portfolio, working with different renowned photographers and production companies, in addition to shooting for my own site.
Any plans forthcoming with the look and design of the website?
Changing the look and features of my site is an ever-changing process. To keep members retaining and new customers joining, you can't let your sites go stale. Besides shows and content updates, I work on my site constantly to improve it, based on members' feedback and new technologies. I am working on an updated version of my current tour, with newer photos and marketing tweaks, and I will be releasing some new alternate tours and marketing tools for my affiliates.
What's the back story to you being named Miss Nude Internet?
It was a great title to win. I was very excited when I found out that I won, especially since the surfers chose me. It meant so much to me and was a real honor. I was both nominated and selected as the winner by fans and surfers, not by some committee or sponsored panel.
…I was a top 10 finalist for 2001, 2002, and 2003, and then finally won in 2004. Since my site has been online for six years, it's nice to know that me, and my site, are still appealing to the fans.
What are some of your favorite websites, adult and mainstream?
I am not much of a random surfer when I am on the PC, usually visiting the same few sites. Since I work from a home office, I try doing my work and then step away from the computer when possible. Though that never really works. I swear that my ass is glued to my office chair sometimes.
However, if I am in the mood to just hang out, I love going to Movies.com. I am a bit of a movie buff, so I like to surf there and see what's new, what's coming out. I am also a frequent visitor of CNN.com and my local weather pages. I like to know what's going on in the world, and I always have to check on my Arizona sun.
As for adult sites, most professional porn doesn't turn me on anymore, probably a work hazard. So, when I'm in the mood for some online porn, I usually visit the personal sites of friends and other online models I know.
It's 11:30 p.m. on a Saturday night—where are you and what are you doing?
I am usually not much of a party girl, but when I do go out, I make up for any lost time. A Saturday night out usually includes partying and clubbing with my friends, somewhere in Scottsdale. You'll probably find me in a club dancing my ass off! It's a great group of friends and we always have a wild time when we go out or travel together. I have always been a very sexual person and have enjoyed showing off in front of others for as long as I can remember. Hell, I was even the baby that would run into a crowded room of people and strip off my diaper!
Before I started my website, my hubby and I used to play in CUSeeMe chat rooms, with me flashing and playing with other webcam people. When I started seeing women using their webcams to broadcast images to personal Web pages, I knew that I would love doing the same, letting everyone play with me through my webcam, so a personal site for myself was the next logical step. There is something about it that I just love. Even after six years and all the different shoots and shows, I still get turned on showing off my body and being naughty for my members.
Seriously, the video content on your site is amazing. How often are you shooting scenes and stuff to update your site?
My hubby, Stewie and I used to shoot a few short times a year, traveling and shooting in bulk, and then releasing those scenes over a few months. However, that ended up taking some of the fun out our shoots, which has some impact on the final content, too. So now we shoot every few weeks but also do a lot of impromptu shooting, as the mood hits us. It has led to some great scenes, and the members love the hot results.
You have a weblog, which is so cool. How long have you been blogging?
I've always enjoyed interacting with my fans, so I always had some sort of updated text diary for my members, but I didn't catalog entries until the end of 2001 when I started using a journal service. I moved to my own site blog script in 2004, but my members can see all of my entries from 2001 forward. I talk about what's happening in my life, whether it's grocery shopping, a car accident, or a threesome. My members can reply to my daily posts with their own comments, or post threads on my message board.
One of my favorite "blogs" is my video diary, where I talk to the viewers through my camera, and record updates about my life and my sexual adventures. It's a lot of fun, and my members love it.
Please describe the underwear you currently have on.
I am wearing a hot pink tutu, with plaid men's boxers underneath. OK, OK. I'm not really wearing the tutu! All joking aside, I am usually a fan of going "commando"—not wearing any underwear.
