Playboy TV Premieres AVN Awards Show Tonight

The 2007 AVN Awards, the first such show open to the public, will reach an even larger audience tonight, March 16, when it airs on Playboy TV.

The AVN Awards Show 2007 will air at 9:30 p.m. EST, preceded by The AVN Red Hot Carpet at 9 p.m. Repeats are scheduled for 1 and 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

"I'm very excited about the fact that millions of adult fans will be able to share the experience of the AVN Awards on Playboy TV," said AVN president Paul Fishbein.

Recorded on January 13 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, where the show played to a record turnout of 7,000, the program was put together by Gary Miller who also produced and directed the live event.

The 2007 AVN Awards was a milestone in the show's 24-year history, presented for the first time in a major entertainment venue, with more public and media awareness than ever before.

Co-hosted by comedy star Jim Norton and Wicked Pictures exclusive Jessica Drake, the show was rife with celebrities, on and off stage. Presenters included rock icon Gene Simmons, alt rocker Dave Navarro, magician Criss Angel, comedian Carrot Top, as well as a galaxy of XXX stars.

The telecast includes the lavish production number from John Stagliano's Las Vegas revue The Fashionistas, which producer Miller said "is something special we've never had before."

Miller added that the cable TV version "turned out great—it's an excellent show."

Both segments, the Jesse Jane-hosted Red Carpet and the Awards Show, will also air March 17, 18, 24 and 25. Details at www.playboy.com.
