N/C Dimensioning, Makers of Super Babe, Win Free AVN Ad

A business card and a little bit of luck got N/C Dimensioning, Inc., the makers of the life-sized silicone doll SuperBabe, a free full-page black and white ad in the September issue of AVN

N/C Dimensioning owner Mark Maki was thrilled to win the ad. “It’s been a godsend. With the economy taking a hit, people don’t have five thousand to spend on a doll anymore and marketing’s not our forte,” he told AVN

Maki won the ad by simply placing his business card in a box for the contest at AVN’s booth at July’s Adult Novelty Manufacturers Expo. AVN runs a similar contest at the Adult Entertainment Expo.

While SuperBabes, which sell for $5,495, all come with the same body specs (molded from 1990 Miss Nude World Vanna Lace: 5’6”, with 38DD-23-36 measurements) customers can customize the doll to a large extent by choosing the hair, eyes and makeup on the doll. Usually men simply send in photos of women they’d like to the doll to look like, with Chasey Lain the most frequently suggested model.

“Guys don’t really know anything about makeup, but they know what they like when they see it – so we’ve found that rather than asking them how they would like the eye shadow to be on the doll, it’s easier for them to just send in a photo of someone that has the look that they like,” Maki explained.

N/C Dimensioning has been making SuperBabe love dolls for almost four years now, constantly tweaking their production formula to better serve their consumers. A recent innovation in the doll’s design was making the doll lighter, dropping the weight of the doll from 100 lbs. to 60. The doll weighs quit a bit because of the skeleton articulated with stainless steel bones and specially designed stainless steel joints that have been included for a heightened sense of realism.

Future innovations include a new model with smaller proportions.

N/C Dimensioning fulfills about one order a week, and Maki has noticed seasonable changes in consumer purchasing. “In summertime the brunette orders come in. In winter, the blondes come in. I don’t know why – it’s just the way it is.
