AVN:
What projects are you currently working on?
Nina Hartley:
I have lots on my plate these days. Besides having a nice slate of guests lined up for my webcam show over the next few weeks including some new, hot guys, I'm shooting several scenes. I’ve got at least four scenes lined up for March, including playing Eudora in the XXX version of "Bewitched." I'm very stoked, indeed! I love camp with my porn, and me in blue eye shadow and a red wig is trey campy, nes pas?
In addition to a lot of MILF work, I'm helping Ernest prepare to shoot the sequel to "O," the big feature from '05. Starlet of the Year Bree Olsen is the lead this time, and I'm wearing many hats. I'm the Assistant Director, the Director's Wife, a performer with a fair amount of screen time, coach for the submissive players, third in line for costume/prop wrangling. Whew! It's going to be good, and Ernest has written a great script. Bree is lovely and likes to act. All of the surrounding players are excellent.

You’ve made sex your business. What does sex mean to you?
Nina Hartley:
For me, sex has been my vocation, my meal ticket, my path to happiness and self-understanding. It is my meditation and communion with Ernest. My interest in sex is unabated by all that I've had: I'm always interested in it: watching it, doing it, helping others do it better, listening to others have it, lending a helping hand (quick, more lube!). Since it is a body-based activity, the good that comes from it lasts and lasts and affects other parts of my life.
There is always something to learn about oneself through sex, even less-than-satisfying sex.
I don't have bad sex any more, ever. By making conscious sexuality my mantra, I always get the most out of every sexual experience, whether a friendly hand job in Helsinki or getting it up the butt from Ernest [her husband].
AVN:
Are you a registered nurse?
Nina Hartley:
I hate to burst a bubble, but my license is not current. I'd need 6-12 months of school to get back up to speed, I'm sure. I'm not sure if I'd need to re-take the original test, though. But I am proud that I completed my degree instead of dropping out for the easy money, which I could have done in my junior year.
AVN:
If you had to write your memoir in six words or less, what would it be?
Nina Hartley:
"I sucked, I fucked, I came."
Lame, I know, but I've got to work on it!
