Biography

Feminista Jones is the Love & Sex section editor at BlogHer and is the primary blogger at FeministaJones.com. Her award winning writing focuses on health and well being, specifically in the areas of mental, sexual and physical health. FeministaJones.com is  devoted to promoting sex-positive discussions on social media, deconstruction of social norms/restrictions, challenging standard feminist theory (and making feminism accessible to more women in the process), giving voice to man-loving feminist women, exploring alternative sexual identities like the BDSM lifestyle and pansexuality through a feminist lens, teaching and advising, and all around fun.  She has also written a Love & Sex column for Ebony. com and hosted  the sex-positive podcast, TWiB: After Dark.

Jones has been featured regularly on HuffPost Live, and made appearances on the Dr. Oz Show and Exhale Show.  She has been recognized as an United Nations Foundation Fellow for her work as an activist and community organizer. Jones has been featured on MSNBC and C-SPAN.  In 2013, She was selected as a United Nations Foundation Fellow for her dynamic social media influence. In 2014, Jones launched a global anti-street harassment campaign (#YouOKSis) and a National Moment of Silence protesting police brutality (#NMOS14), both of which received international media attention. She was recently awarded the 2014 Black Weblog Award for Outstanding Online Activism and was named one of the sixteen leading feminists by the Washington Post. Jones has presented at various conferences and universities and she was an Ignite Keynote speaker at NetRoots Nation '14. In 2014, she was honored as one of the Top 100 Black Social Influencers of the year by The Root.com.

By day, she is a mental health social work administrator in NYC. By night she is a freelance writer and editor. 24/7/365 she is a mom to a precocious son.
