BIOGRAPHY

Larry Flynt was born in Kentucky on November 1st, 1942. Impoverished as a child, His parents divorced when he was 10 years old. Larry Flynt joined the U.S. Army in 1958 at the age of 15. He quit the army a year later. He joined the Navy in 1959 and served as a radar operator on the USS Enterprise. Flynt moved on from the Navy in 1964 and he began working for General Motors in a factory in Dayton, Ohio. Larry Flynt opened the first Hustler strip club, in Cincinnati in 1970. Larry soon opened more clubs soon in Toledo, Dayton, Columbus, Cleveland. Larry Flynt started Hustler Magazine in 1974, later publishing a similar magazine entitled "Chic".

According to his autobiography, Larry Flynt's first sexual experience was an encounter with a chicken. Larry said he had "heard from older boys that sexual intercourse with a chicken was similar in sensation to sexual intercourse with a woman". So he had sex with a chicken, killing it afterwards to avoid any suspicion. Larry Flynt was 9 years old at the time.

Larry Flynt has married five times; his longest marriage was to his 4th wife, Althea, from 1976 until her death in 1987.

He had a one-year flirtation with Christianity, Larry was converted by evangelist Ruth Carter Stapleton in 1977. He continued to publish Hustler, Saying he will "hustle for God". Larry Flynt claims he had a vision from God while flying his jet.

During a legal battle over obscenity in Georgia in 1978, Larry Flynt and his lawyer in that case, Gene Reeves Jr. were both shot in an ambush near the courthouse. The shooter, Joseph Paul Franklin, white supremacist & serial killer confessed to the shootings, apparently he was outraged by an interracial photo shoot in the magazine. Franklin, is currently serving a life sentence in prison for unrelated murder charges.
As a result of the shooting, Larry Flynt became paralyzed from the waist down. The injury caused Flynt intense and constant pain and Flynt became addicted to prescription painkillers until several surgeries removed the affected nerves.
After the attack, Larry Flynt & Althea moved to a Bel-Air mansion in Los Angeles.
