Mark Kulkis

Biography

Mark Kulkis is President of Kick Ass Pictures, Inc. ; an adult video company that promotes a “No Fake Breast” guarantee on the front of every movie it releases. A 1987 college graduate of the University of Michigan, Public Relations representative, former managing Editor for Adult Video News (AVN Networks), and accredited for launching Larry Flynt ’s video division for Hustler magazine, Mark Kulkis is known for his role as the marketing genius responsible for managing the campaign of adult actress Mary Carey for governor of California in 2003. Considered as one of the milestones for the mainstreaming of porn, the publicity stunt produced a significant rise in sales revenue for the company.

Occasionally compared to Larry Flynt fame, Mark Kulkis is a political advocate for First Amendment Rights on Free Speech and speaks out against censorship, particularly, in regards to how it affects the porn industry, such as in the case of Rob Black from Extreme Associates ’ realistic approach to adult movies.

In 2004, he established the campaign, “Bullets Not Boobs ”, from which it opposes the U.S. military’s policy of paying for breast augmentation for female soldiers at the taxpayer’s expense.

In continuing to be political figureheads for the porn industry, Mark Kulkis and Mary Carey attended the 2005 President’s Dinner and Salute to Freedom , a Republican fundraiser, working for the benefit of the porn industry from within the political party system.

The same year proved to be productive and noticeable. As one of today’s adult business leaders pioneering the porn industry with its technological innovations via the Internet, Mark Kulkis launched Porno4Portables , a website producing and marketing downloadable content for the small screens of iPod platforms.

He appeared as a guest on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” with Jon Stewart, talking about various subjects such as anti-pornography feminists, members of the conservative religious right, and personal privacy interests associated with receiving information. In addition, he wrote an opinion commentary on porn in the Los Angeles Daily Journal.
