Biography

Peter Warren started as a freelance reviewer for AVN under the pseudonym Wetscrog Rex, an old nickname he used in the porn club he co-founded during his undergraduate days at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. While at UNC, he wrote for the school paper, The Daily Tar Heel, and began his own underground publication, The Occasional Troglodyte.

He went on to spend a year studying screenwriting in the graduate program at the University of Miami, and just after 9/11, he made the move to L.A., where he reconnected with a college acquaintance who gave him a shot at writing movie reviews and features for alternative weekly Entertainment Today. This led to freelancing gigs for other outlets, including Campus Circle, FilmStew.com and, eventually, AVN.

In October 2003, six months after beginning his freelancing stint, he was offered a full-time position as an Associate Editor at AVN, which he held for a number of years before being named a Senior Editor, the title he currently holds.

"Scrog," as some call him, has also done a little moviemaking of his own on the side, creating a documentary about his experience trying to keep his then newfound porn reviewing work under wraps from his family during a cruise to Alaska. Called Jews at Sea, it later picked up adult star Kimberly Kane as a co-producer and was first publicly screened at the 2008 Backseat Film Festival in Philadelphia—the birthplace, it so happens, of AVN. Pete has begun work on other documentary projects, as well, including a Jews at Sea sequel tentatively titled Jews in Heat.

Pete maintains his own blog at Scrogma.com. In addition, he can be found/contacted at:
