Wisconsin County Tightens Adult Zoning Ordinance

County officials closed a loophole on Tuesday which they said could potentially allow strip-club owners to set up shop outside the designated zone for adult businesses.

According to the Baraboo News-Republic, the board felt the language of an ordinance regulating adult businesses in commercial districts needed to specifically include the words "live entertainment."

"It is not a new ordinance," Supervisor Tim O'Neil told the Baraboo News Republic. "It is filling a gap that exists in the old ordinance so that someone cannot marshal through a business that we may not approve of while we have not changed the ordinance to cover this situation. It is just plugging a gap that is conspicuous and might be acted around if we do not get this language on our books soon."

According to the report, the previous ordinance for commercial districts only allowed adult entertainment with a conditional-use permit, but that did not specifically include live entertainment.
