Bunny Ranch Beats Cybersquatters: Hof

The famed Moonlight Bunny Ranch didn't exactly pull a rabbit out of its hats, but it did beat a cybersquatter who "held the bunnyranch.com name hostage," Bunny Ranch owner Dennis Hof crowed after the domain name was recaptured for the brothel.

"This victory for myself and the Bunny Ranch stopped the hostel takeover," Hof said in an announcement, with the pun presumably intended.

The bunnyranch.com domain had been lifted by Wayne Mellita, also known as Harry Ola, who is said also to run a Las Vegas escort service, Gentleman's Choice. Hof said he and his attorneys are planning to seek damages against Mellita.

"I was really nice to Wayne Mellitaat the (Adult Entertainment Expo show) in Vegas," Hof said. "All he did was laugh in my face and commented how happy he was with the traffic that was sent to him because of the Cathouse special on HBOwhen Al Gelbard got involved, his tune changed quickly."

Gelbard, a First Amendment attorney familiar to adult entertainment, used the ICANN dispute resolution policy to recapture the bunnyranch.com domain, "and a quick victory was assured," Hof said.
