CHATSWORTH, Calif. – Acclaimed gonzo director Chris Streams
has signed an exclusive contract with Jules Jordan Video, moving from his
longtime home base of Zero Tolerance and its sister company, Third Degree
Films.
"I think Chris is the best photographer in the business," Jordan told AVN. "He really cares about the presentation of the girl, and for our company that’s the most important thing. You can tell by watching his movies how much time and effort he puts into making the girls look sexy. He’s been known to get the hottest girls, and his choice of talent is another reason we brought him on as part of our arsenal of directors. We’d like to help brand his name as a director even more. I think he's a valuable player and by branding him along with Jules Jordan Video, it will be a great thing for him and us."
Plans call for the director to deliver one movie per month for JJV, starting in December with the release of a MILF title featuring AVN Hall of Famer Ginger Lynn.
“I think I’ll fit in well with Jules," said Streams. "I really
admire his stuff and I think our styles are really similar. I know I have big shoes to
fill, in terms of all the great directors that are over there. I never was
really promoted as a director, but I’m going to come out swinging and I hope
people like the stuff. I’m going to slow down, relax, do one title
a month, and put a lot of thought into each movie.”
According to Jules Jordan, Streams will own his product as part of the open-ended deal.
"Obviously, he'll put more care
and effort into something that he owns," Jordan said. "We will distribute his product just like our other directors.
We’re hoping to have between 12-15 movies a year from Chris – and that’s completely up to
him. We give the directors freedom to do what they want, as long as it’s good."
Streams told AVN that he’ll continue to make movies in the high-quality gonzo style that made
him a popular director at Z.T. and Third Degree.
“I want to make movies that I
like to jack off to, it’s as simple as that," Streams said. "A lot of people have said that I
make hard movies, but I don’t think that’s necessarily true. I’m not an ATM
freak or anything, but if I’m shooting an all-anal title, there’s going to be
some ATM in there…it just happens. However, I don’t believe in shooting
really hard stuff for the sake of shock value…I’ll be the first one to yell
‘cut’ if any of that stuff is going on.”
Streams has not cut all ties with the Zero Tolerance family
of production companies; he’ll still be shooting some of the box covers for
Z.T., Third Degree and Black Ice for at least the next year.
“I’m really thankful for the opportunity that Joey Wilson
at Third Degree and Greg Alves at Zero Tolerance gave me,” Streams told AVN.
“They basically gave me my start in this industry and there are no hard
feelings there at all…I’m not moving on because of that. The market is
changing, and because of that, those companies are going in a different
direction than I am. It’s just a natural part of my growth as a director.”
At the company’s inception in 2003, Third Degree was
primarily built around Streams and fellow director Danny Case. Previous to
that, Streams had shot a few titles for Zero Tolerance.
“Chris was a big part of the catalyst for us launching Third
Degree,” said Third Degree President, Joey Wilson. “And now that we’re going in
different directions with things like broadcast deals, we’ve sort of had to tie
Chris’ hands in terms of some of the stuff he wants to shoot.. So that known,
if he’s not going to be here, I can’t think of a better place for him to land
than Jules Jordan Video, in terms of his artistic endeavors. We’re really going
to miss him, for sure, but I think he’s going to have to go with his heart on
this one.”
