LOS ANGELES - TMZ reports that former call-girl Ashley Dupre has dropped her lawsuit against 'Girls Gone Wild' founder Joe Francis for exploiting her name and likeness in the wake of the scandal surrounding her paid liaisons with Gov. Eliot Spitzer.
When the Spitzer story broke in March, Francis made an extravagant $1 million public offer to Dupre for a 'Girls Gone Wild' photo shoot and tour. Days later, Francis discovered that he already possessed footage of Dupre from a 2003 'Girls Gone Wild' shoot and quickly set up a Web site touting his find.
Dupre was just shy of her 18th birthday in the video, but Francis maintained that the underage nudity in the video was legally permissible because it involved no sexual contact.
Dupre filed suit in April, claiming Francis used the footage without permission and seeking $10 million in damages. Francis immediately produced video proof of Dupre's consent.
A statement from Dupre's lawyer reads: "Ms. Dupré wants to eliminate all negativity from her life and focus on the positive. She has prospects for many exciting new projects and is looking forward to starting a new chapter."
